60 F250 4x4. I want one...

I'm looking for a 1960 F250 4x4, but so far I've had no luck finding one. Is this a year / model that is hard to find? Was there a F350 4x4 available in this time period? What I have found is the 60 body on newer frames.

You'll find one - eventually- if you're persistent. But remember, they were not made in great numbers.

There is a place to get hooked into for the 57-60 years that you might want to join, since we are definitely the odd-men-out here, our vintage trucks being the least desirable in the 48-60 Forum:

57to60fords@groups.facebook.com

There seems to be much more traffic, and great contacts for parts/vehicles than FTE.I don't go there often because I don't do MyFace or any social networks.FTE is far and away the best for technical info, though, and that other "site" is not user-friendly,in my opinion.

One last thing:If you can locate a Western vehicle, many of the FTE members would be willing to pre-screen it for you if it's close enough. You'll avoid all the expensive rot issues of an Eastern vehicles that way.BTW-Go Browns!

If you're willing to expand your search to both 59 and 60 models,or consider F100's you'll have more options.

your a few days late turx. i just got done stripping a 60 f250 4x4. i would have made you a good deal but it was a huge pos. i took about every part i could think of off it that wasnt junk. i sent Stu a pic of it before the front axle and wheels and tires came off. maybe he could post it just for fun if he reads this. i have a 63 f250 4x4 for sale, click on my avatar to see pics of it, and if i remember, there was a red and white 60 4x4 in denver on cl. good luck! almost forgot, i know of a 60 half ton for sale with the inline 6 and the big back window. when i get pics i will try and send them somehow, my skills are limited

Here's the sorry old beast before being put down. Mark told me he saved the front axle, transfer case, and all things mechanical before crushing it. Importantly he also saved the super rare 19.5" wheels. Mark cut the bed sides out too for my friend Rusty to use when he redoes his '57 panel. As sad as the old '60 was it looks to have been fairly rust free, and will live on through its donated parts. I'm planning a road trip up to Mark's to see his M-Hs one of these days, plus I've got some pieces Mark wants, so I'll be able to haul the bed sides back. Stu

pics dont do the old pos justice. that old girl was full off holes. the bed sides were about the best part of the truck for some reason. it had been a plow truck most of its life and was left for dead in 86 with the bed full of garbage. like Stu said it was born with the 19.5s which was the big reason i bought it. that and the front axle. every time i start hammering on the big red truck i start wondering if the closed knuckle dana 44 is gonna hold up. now with a spare axle and t-case i can play a little harder. i knew the production numbers were low, which makes me feel kinda bad that the old girl is gonna be a kia next year. i was bidding against a scrapper though, so at least all her good parts got saved. thanks for posting the pics Stu!
