Is it just me or are the fuel filter o-rings getting sloppy with tolerances?

Is it just me or are the fuel filter o-rings getting sloppy with tolerances?

Broke my truck down and replaced the rear plug on the HPOP. Got everything back together and replaced my fuel filter with a new motorcraft filter bought from Advance Auto. Got back and replaced it like Ive done numerous times before. Made sure the o-ring was seated the correct way. I always have to double check on Guzzle's site to make sure of it. Tightened it down and cycled the key to fill the bowl back up. It shot fuel 12 feet on my driveway. Went back to look at it and the o-ring wasnt perfectly seated on the lip of the bowl. Adjusted it and tried again. It worked. Got up the next morning and it was leaking once again.

I ended up using the old o-ring to seal it and it appears to be holding up better than the new one. The old one was snug against the cap and the new one was loose as hell. It wouldnt even stay on the cap when I turned it upside down like the old one would.

What gives? Anyone else have this problem? Im just lucky I held onto my old one.

It worries me because it was Motorcraft. Expect them to be pretty exact with things. Guess not these days.

The filter is motorcraft but is the O-ring as well? I would guess its advanced auto o-ring.

I assume everything is straight from Motorcraft or a 3rd party contracted by Motorcraft. Everything is shrinkwrapped together in the box from Advance.

I just did my fuel filter. I used the Motorcraft filter as well, and I just threw it all in and no problems. The lid o-ring is a bit loose, but it stayed in place when I tightened the lid down.

Just did a motorcraft filter as well. No issues on my end. Maybe you were the lucky 1 in 100,000 misfit o ring recipient......
