Fun with panel truck doors

The lower hinge on my panel was completely torn out so here's my attempt at fixing it. I still have a ways to go but I thought I'd see what you guys thought.
As it started

Old pocket cut out

New structure ready to weld

backer strip plug welded in

New pocket set in place.

I hope to get the hinge mounted and welded in this evening.

Gary Wow thats such a critical part of the door structure! But it looks like you are adding plenty of strength back in to the door. Nice work. keep us posted on your progress.

More progress.

I'm using door hinge bolts in place of the rivets originally in the hinge. I welded nuts on the back of the hinge pocket to screw them into. Hopefully I can get it finished up this weekend.

Got the hinge all tacked in last night. Now if it will just line up right on the truck. Gotta chase the threads on all the holes since I had to drill out the screws.
