i am using an electric fuel pump on my 239 flatmotor, converted to 12v. neg ground. i like having the electric fuel pump but it is quite noise. at idle it is louder than the engine. are there pumps out there that are not so loud? thanks, dick r.
Dick, you need a louder exhaust system. Seriously, I am using a Holley standard pressure red electric pump. Seems fairly quiet. It puts out 7 psi and does not require a pressure regulator. I have it mounted on rubber isolator blocks so it does not vibrate.
my pump is the round style with a rubber mounted clamp that keep's it fairly quiet ..is yours frame mounted or on the firewall?? frame mount is much better ..and I run a regulator to knock the pressure to 2.5 lb..
I think I have the same one as Ken, Auto Zone #E8016S. Besides the rubber clamp around it, it is on a cantilever bracket that is mounted on rubber shock biscuits, and with rubber hose segments in/out. It makes noise until it builds pressure, then is very quiet.
i do have the doors, fenders, etc. on. i'm going to try the rubber block mount. i'm going to do one similar to the 3 to 2 metal master cyl mount. i'll blind bolt the pump to a 1/2" rubber block, then i'll do 2 add't bolts to bolt the block to frame.
