83 motor to 95 cab ignition wiring question

Ok so i swapped cabs on my 83 ford f350. I now have a 95 cab on it. my question is how do i wire the ignition? i know that you have to have a ballast resistor for the duraspark ignition coil but the 95 doesnt have it. how do i wire this into my truck? I have a red wire comming off the engine harness that is hot in run. I was thinking of getting a ballast resistor and installing it in that wire to the red wire on the ignition box. then running a wire from the starter solenoid to the red wire and white wire on the ignition box so it has a full 12 volts while cranking and the timing retard while starting. will this work?
