If the stuff really is all it's cracked up to be, shouldn't it be a slippery, instead of a sticky???

<style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }a:link { }</style> Like brain75 I had to log in at work to see what all the fuss was about. I use Firefox with the add-on AdBlock Plus. When looking at this forum from home I don't even see the STP thread. Since there are no adds, everything else loads much faster too.

I posted about this about two weeks ago when the STP ads started showing up:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...he-stp-ad.html

I just found them irritating because by having them listed "in" the board they show up like legitimate subjects but they're just another form of ad. Many suggested using an ad blocker or going with Firefox but I doubt if any thing like this would work because they aren't set up as a normal ad. At least I don't think so, and I doubt if an ad detecting software would pick up on them. As I stated in my original post, these ads more annoying than the normal ads because it seems the mods are trying to pass them off as regular posts. To me they're like the stupid paid radio and TV ads set up to look like interview shows that are suppose to be discussing important mattesr but only discuss some get rich scheme or other crappy product.

There are more than enough ads on the side, top and bottom of this site I don't think we should have to contend with bogus posts. I wish the admins of FTE would stop it. If it weren't for the people, the posters, on here I wouldn't waste my time here. Before anyone tells me to become a paid supporter don't waste your time, I'm not going to pay cash money for a web site, I pay every time I log in and get barraged with the side post ads and the ads that pop up whenever you happen to hover your icon a highlighted word in a post. I can live with the side post ads and the hover over ads are a PIA but, what I feel in the board ads to be deceptive, should be pulled.

I don't see the adds at all, including the STP "post" add. I really did have to log in with a different computer to find out what you were talking about. Just my experience.

Free place full of lots and lots of posts, meaning lots of data to hold. Got to pay the bills some how with it. Personally as long as they don't use pop-ups, or worse the scroll over ones with sound, I'm fine with it.

I'd rather it was a sticky than new ones being thrown in there. Maybe it's me but I have a tendency to look past the stickies when browsing, so I hardly notice.

Same here, just ignore their attempt at paying the bills. If everyone ignores them, they will go away. From what I was told the advertisers pay so much to run an ad and then have to pay so much more per "hit", so if no hits they won't keep the ad up.

I could have quoted several guys so don't take this personal 38 coupe - isn't meant that way.

The adds come and go, sometimes one, sometimes 2 and right now there are none. With the next mouse click, the bogus threads will be back.

I used to be a supporter, before Ken sold us out. I run all the pop-up blockers available so I'm not seeing banner ads or pop-ups. These are rotating "threads" that you can't post to, can't report, can't do anything with them.

I believe what I contribute to this forum keeps it on the web. Without the input of participants it would fold up. I'm not whining, I'm pi$$ed and about ready to become "fanatical" about Ford trucks instead of "enthusiastic".

It seems like some see them, some don't. Here's what some are seeing when logging onto the site:

Hey, I can understand how frustrating these pop-up things get - please don't let the ads drive you away. You've been a great source of information on old flathead trucks, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would hate to see you go!

I've been running Firefox w/ AdBlock for some time and it works well, like the other guys mentioned, even against the stealth STP ads. What browser/adblock/operating system combo are you running?

From Bob's photo, I suspect this may be an specific issue for folks who are using Explorer and/or still running XP.
