1988 F250 pick up coil replacement

my husband sent me out into the wide world of the internet to find out information on replacing the pick up coil on his F250 1988. He needs to find out how to first get the coil out without breaking anything. He says there is a plate over the top of the coil that he doesn't know how to get out. Is there a trick to this or is it just corroded and need to be pried off.

Anyone out there with information please. I'll be checking back periodically but we have no internet at the house, so it'll only be during the day.

Thanks for the input. I'll pass this on to the hubster and see if he can't figure it out. Doesn't look that complicated. Do you really have to take the whole distributor off to replace the PIP? Sounds like a little overkill. I've replaced these in other vehicles and it was a simple pull out/put in deal.

A lot of people would just replace the whole dist. to avoid the work.

well, that would be an option if it weren't so expensive. This is just a "yard truck" so doesn't get priority treatment unfortunately. The other Ford truck get the VIP treatment even though it's older. So... guess it's time to roll the sleeves up and get greasy.

Hello Blue Rebel,
We have a 352.... same distributor? I'm not sure. If so, we'd be glad to get the distributor and my husband says, "Thank you".
