NumberDummy, could you help me out?

I'm looking for an stock, pan-fill dipstick tube for a Ford C-4. Could you list the part number and any availability? I know they are available in the aftermarket, but they just look too modern for my taste. Thanks, John

How many different dipsticks do you think there are...one? There are over 100! C4 introduced 1964, used thru 1983 in myriad cars/trucks/Bronco's.

You can't just stick any 'ol stick in there and expect it to read correctly, because there are also myriad different pans. What year/vehicle is the trans from?

There is no 'early' 1977. It's either a 1976 or a 1977. If the truck is still extant, the production date is listed on the upper corner of the white Safety Standards Certification Label, glued to the B pillar.

If the date is 9/76 thru 12/76, it's a 1977. If it's 8/76, it could be a 1976 or 1977. The actual year is stamped on the Warranty Plate, riveted to the left door face below the latch.

The C4 trans pan (DOAZ-7A194-A w/filler tube fitting)) is the same: 1970/79 F100/250 / 1970/74 E100/300 (E = Econoline) / 1975/79 E100/150 / 1980/81 F100 / Misc 1970/79 Passenger Cars.

The dipstick and tube are specific to either 1975/76 F100/250 or 1977/79 F100/250.

D7TZ-7A020-A .. C4 Transmission Dipstck / Marked: D7TP-CA / Obsolete

Applications: 1977/79 F100/150 300 I-6 & 302 / 1977/79 F250 300 I-6 / 1977 Bronco 302 is not the same.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
-------------------------------------------------
I looked, no one has a 1975/76 C4 dipstick.

Thanks Bill. According to the tag on the trans, it was from April of '77. I only said early 77 becuase some of the internal parts I bought for the trans asked if it was made before a certain date and I didn't know if that would help or not, so I throew it out there. Thanks again for looking. Looks like I'll have to go to the aftermarket. This thing is pretty ugly if you ask me. Maybe I can modify the handle.

You can't scour the junkyards? I still see 70's F-series trucks in the yards. Can't see why you would be able to score one there. htere really were only two types, pan fill and case fill. Most the pan fills were basically the same. The part numbers were most likey different becasue the tubes were bent differently. As long as you get the tube and dipstick together as a pair it should not matter as you're using it in a non-stock application anyways. Just make sure it works in your application! Be sure the tranny is bone dry and then add the proper recommeneded # of quarts of fluid. Check against the stick to see if it reads right. On a rare occasion, I've re-marked dipsticks because i could not find suitable replacements. I agree, not a fan of the newer looking aftermarket stuff. So I make due with what old stuff I can get my hands on.

That was the first thing I tried. Haven't had any luck finding a pan fill C-4, only case fill C-4's, C-6's and manuals.

Huh... that stinks. Ok.. try your local tranny shops. There are a couple established ones here in town, been here in business for over 20 years, privately owned/operated. They sometimes have a pretty good used parts stash. I know I've gotten parts as well as donated to their cause many times over. Worth a shot. Also try ...dare i say it... e-Bay. The pan fill ones are a bit harder to come by, but they are out there. I have a pan fill C4 in my 69 F100.. thankfully it was complete.

Read the post again, I said there were over 100 dipsticks!

I could give you the exact amount of C4 trans dipsticks, but would have to troll thru 4 Ford & 4 L/M Passenger Car and 3 Ford Truck Parts Catalogs to find them all.

You wanna look thru 11 FoMoCo parts catalogs? Be my guest.

I think he was talking about 2-legged dipsticks. And yes, I know and work with quite a few myself.

D4AZ-6068-B .. FMX specific Transmission Mount (steel/rubber insulator) / 1973/74 Galaxie/LTD 351C 2V & 351W / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

There are other 1969/79 cars with FMX's and 351W's, but this is the only specific FMX mount.

There's another but was used with FMX/C6 351C 2V/4V; 351M/351W in 1973/76 Torino/Ranchero/Montego, 1974/76 Cougar: D5OZ-6068-B / Obsolete

2 are available NOS at 2 sources, one in KS, one in TX

351W/FMX also used in: 1980/85 Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis, 1980/82 Lincoln Town Car.
