Timing cover pully bolt size on '65 352?

I need to pull the timing cover pulley so I can replace the front seal but none of the sockets I have are big enough.

Can anyone tell me what size that bolt is so I can go purchase the correct socket?

I have the motor out of the pickup, am cleaning it up and hopefully putting it back in this weekend...

Thanks a zillion!!!

What you are calling the 'timing cover pulley' is actually the harmonic balancer.

355721-S .. Bolt-Balancer to Crankshaft-5/8" -18 x 1 1/2" hex head. This is the thread size, not the wrench size.

The socket you need to buy is 15/16ths. Good luck.

Six point and not a cheapie, preferably impact. Then you have to worry about breaking it loose without turning the motor over. Impact wrench will do the trick, but you have to make access for it such as removing radiator and/or other stuff in the way.

Another trick, albeit possibly dangerous and maybe not so professional, is to use a long breaker bar on the harmonic balancer bolt to turn the motor over until the breaker bar hits the frame, then hit the starter button quickly to break the bolt loose. I am not endorsing this method because all kinds of things can happen such as breaker bar going through radiator or severing automatic transmission coolant lines. Do so at your own risk. Good luck.
