NO START 6.0. WANNA CHALLENGE? LOOK HERE:(

So heres what i got.ima keep it short so as not to bore yall. I have a late 2004 that wont start. So far the owner has replaced inj, ipr, icp, hpop, inj harness, and oil cooler. I get to it and test for hpo leaks. I found them to be under the pump itself,i replaced o-rings. No more hpo leaks. Still no start. I have a snap-on modis with 11.2 software. All values are found to be correct. Swapped ficm and pcm with other 6.0.....they work. The only value thats not right was the "brand new hpop" i cant build over 350 psi wilst crankin. They say its new.

This guy has spent so much money,i almost hate to tell him his new hpop is crap or his former mechanic ripped him off. MY QUESTION IS,....WHAT (if anything) DID I MISS....

IM trying to cover all basis and test before i move to pull trigger on new hpop. And yes,the truck has excellent base oil psi

How long were you cranking it?
After replacing my motor with one I rebuilt it ran down 2 fully charged batteries while trying to start. Ended up recharging both batteries, more cranking then finally started.

Because i fashioned a icp sensor into a "tester" for the air test. Command the ipr 100% closed and put the air to her and no air leaks.

Ipr is brand new. Ipr% koeo 15% and cranking it jumps to 85%. I know that 85 is not right, and there is no chaffing on the engine harness.... Any ideas? I say hpop is weak. But thats why im here. To get more insight, and if im missing sumthin.

I was hammering on it,frustrated. I was afraid to burn the starter up. Of course i would let it cool. But still those things can only take so much

Have you went through the no start checklist in the tech folder? Is the truck equipped with a theft device? Also have you tried unplugging the icp sensor and tried starting it

If I had to guess what Mark was getting at is this HPO system sees up to 4000psi HPO and no shop air I know of will touch that unless you guys have somthing special for air IDK

But the test you did usually is a Good Indicator weather or not it will leak

I would have thought the air would have leaked thru a bad IPR even though you commanded closeIDK if it was Jacked it wouldnt close ODD I would still pull and check it out

Also did you unplug ICP and try and start worth a shot but I doubt it will work this time just thought I would mention it

Does it have the right Oil filter and OEM cap maybe you know but theres that drain in the bottom of the filter housing
kinda shooting in the wind here

If you ever do figure it out post about it Im curios

Thanx dukie, glad to be here. Yea,that icp is brand new. Ive went through the no start checklist 3 times man,i am gettin a weird noise from the oil pump. No metal in the ipr though. Thats what im sayin. This is a challenge, ive got my own little diesel shop. 6.0s keep me in biz. Ive done more than my fare share of these things. But this sucker is a pain. My modis has a lab and ignition scope, all graphs look to be in order. Just not building hpop psi

do you have any way of testing the bench testing the HPOP? That is a good point benny and bismic brung up. The fact of the amount of pressure the system can sustain. what kind of psi are you applying to it?

Yes,motor craft filters, ballon test for compression leak in fuel galleys. Ive tested every thing. And your right about that air. Shop air useully finds the leak. Thats how i locate oil leaks on these things. If i do another air leak test ill get a smoke machine and hook to it.

it would be a shame to stick a new hpop in there and have that not be the problem.
