with the right gearing you could hual the 6000# trailor with a 4cly in all reality, the 302 will pull it fine but you may wanna look into a set of 4.11's minimum for the rear end, hell even if you go with a 351 it be a good idea your fuel millage will suffer a little BUT your transmission will thank you!

Gearing is definitely the main issue with the 302 in a truck. It should have come with a minimum of 3.55 gears with the stock tires. Well, 3.55 was the best Ford offered for them. I would want 3.73 with stock tires or 4.10 with 31-32 inch tires. Its because the 302 doesnt make low end torque like the 351. Thats why I prefer the 351 in a truck.
