Wink Tow Hooks - Yea or Nay?

Was cleaning up the garage and found the tow hooks from my 2006 F-150. I've been meaning to try and see if they fit the Expy for 2 yrs. Got a wild hair up my behind...and they bolt right up.

Keep 'em or leave them? Thinking I might get them chromed. Although I'm liking the look as is right now.

The 1st picture makes them look like a huge overbite. Hopefully the side profile shot shows that they aren't that bad actually.

they are rather obvious though.

I say take them off. They appear to stick out quite a bit more ( about 2-3" more ) than the factory ones.

Side note: I have a small crack in my front bumper almost in the same spot as yours.

that isn't really a crack. That is where my wife decided that the car hauler trailer in front of her wasn't going with the flow of traffic and nudged him

Bumper inserts?
Towing hooks?

My '07 XLT has towing eyes thru the front bumper facade. Don't they all? Don't stick out as far as the F150's shown earlier.

my 2wd had 2 plastic pieces that sat flush with the lower bumper valance. popped it off, used the hardware and the hooks from my 2006 F-150

I've never seen a 07+ Expy in person that is 4x4, so I have no idea what they look like up close. Most pictures aren't too great of detail in that area

Theyre called tow hooks, but what you have shown is a Toyota- or Chevy-Style tow hook. Open. Ford opted for the stronger, more reliable, closed loop tow hook.

No cutting corners on the small stuff.

i was trying to find better pics of these BP expys we upfitted last year. we installed light force lights on a bracket right above the factory tow hooks. you cant really see hooks but they are there. the factory ones sit farther back in then your f-150 ones.

here was another BP expy which shows them alittle better.

I agree that the EXPY tow hooks don't stick out as far. I've used mine before, and was glad to have them. My last vehicle didn't have them and I wish it did when I needed them. I keep 2 recovery straps+wooden dowels, 3 clevises, and rear reciever tow bracket (along with other emergency supplies) in the rear storage compartments of my EXPY EL.

As far as front tow hooks/recovery hooks/eye its usually a 4wd thing. Although I agree with Chuck S that they should be called "eyes", I looked at my Window sticker and it says "FR TOW HOOKS/FOG LAMPS"

Most Fords and GM's have them on 4wds and not on the 2wd. Many times I've been talking to someone by their truck and noticed the recovery hooks and said, "Four Wheel Drive?" and they'll say something like "How'd you know?", and I'll say "You have recovery hooks in the front", and usually the response will be, "I didn't know I had those!"

wish I had the Expy tow hooks. I like the look better than the smooth valance. I think I'm going to leave these in there for now.

Wife wants me to get a bullbar or a grille guard. Just got to find one for a good price then those tow hooks will get pulled
