89 302 wont stay running

Hey guys, my much needed worktruck wont stay running. Had new tires and an allignment done at pep boys (was a good deal) had them hook up the diagnstic and said it was the egr valve. Truck ran fine but would stall after about 2-3 miles. Changed the egr, put new plugs in, ignition coil, and fuel filter. I know thats all random but they were all old had new ones in the basement for years. Truck started after a shot if either. Ran great for 4 minutes. Then started to sputter and stalled. Then wouldnt start again. I gave up. I need this truck really bad. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks guys! Oh its a 302, sorry

can you give anymore details on how the truck acts when it stalls? is it only when it idles? does always sputter? after it stalls does it have fuel at the injectors? it kinda sounds like it might be a just a fuel pump.

It ran great, then after 5 minutes started idling eratically. High , low then sputtered and died. Then wouldnt start again. Before i even got it started i pressed the little nipple on the fuel injector rail and gas came out. But that probably doesnt mean much.

Gas coming out of the fuel rail means you have some fuel pressure. Can you install a pressure gauge to see if the pressure is in the correct range (about 35-40 psig)?

The engine dying after running for a few minutes indicates that the computer is having problems going into closed-loop operation. That's usually caused by a sensor problem. Does it have a MAF sensor? Can you run a KOEO self-test on the EEC and report the codes here?

test number 2 only needs a wire and you count the flashes from the check engine light.

Truck runs great, but once everytime i drive it sputters, almost stalls, i give it gas then its ok. Computer said my ignition position sensor is going. That tells the truck when to shift right?
