add daytime running lights?????

How do you add daytime lights? Does it just light the low beams? This would be for an 02 f-150. Any idea on cost? Was this an option in 02?

I have an 03 and don't have daytime running lights. It must have been an option. I didn't care then, but I am curious about getting it now, also. I hope it's just changing the lights switch. The dealer would probably charge a bundle for that part.

Why not just turn your lights on using your headlight switch?

I have an F-150 XL that I did convert. I'm trying to find where I bought the parts...somewhere in TX I believe... $60 On the top of the dashboard passenger side you take off the top and take out a blank plug and insert a relay. Then you go to the driverside front lights and add a big resister. I'll look for more info.

EvinM, thanks for the link, as I am also thinking about adding the DRLs to my 2003 F150. The only thing I did not see was some type of sensor to turn the lights on to full power when it gets dark enough.

Did I miss that, or was that not included in that link?

I believe you have to turn them on unless you have the auto-on option. The drl's just light the headlights and not the tail-lights. If you have the option then you already have the sensor. I think it's on top of the dash.

When you are using DRL they turn on as soon as your truck starts. At night you turn on your nomal lights which are then at full power. So the only 2 items you need is the relay and resistor
