Talking Stupid WD-40 tricks...

Seems to be getting kinda slow in the O&L forum lately, so I thought I'd throw this one out:

What's your favorite silly/stupid/handy use for WD-40?

Keep it clean, folks.

I have used it to clean off the gunk and buildup that standard chain-lubes create on Motorcycle chains. SPray it on and it eats though the gunk.

Then I let it dry, then start using a Chain Wax (chain waxes can't be applied over the gunky lube build-up - the chain needs to be clean).

Thumbs up Stupid WD-40 tricks...

I use WD-40 and a rag to clean the tough grease stains off my hands, then I use the more conventional type of hand soap to finish the job.

Ive used it to spray around intake manifolds to find leaks. Also works good as a bug remover on the front end,but wash it right after doing it.That torch thing sounds kind of interesting......

We've got some good momentum! Keep it going!

Here's mine: I own a Ruger 10/22 .22 rifle. I put a Hogue synthetic stock on it (black rubber). Anyhow, to clean/refresh the stock, you just strip the gun (to isolate the rubberized stock), put some gloves on, and massage WD-40 into it. Use a soft rag to clean the extra WD-40 off. Good as new!

I saw someone say that they use WD-40 to clean gunk off their hands, but the best thing that i have seen for cleaning my hands is break cleaner. That stuff can work miracles in the area of cleaning. It's amazing. I do use WD-40 to clean various things off of painted surfaces, though, as it usually doesn't damage the surface which you are cleaning. WD-40 isn't good for loosening rusted fasteners or anything like that, but it works pretty well for some cleaning applications, and it does burn pretty well too, so it makes a decent flame thrower.

I don't do this any more, but before I'd put a big chunk of wood in the fire place, pour kerosene on it, then roast it with a wd-40 flame for 20-30 seconds, and I had a pretty healthy fire goinn in under a minute

I spray a little WD-40 on the oxidized orange paint of my antique tractor. Then buff it off with a rag. Shines it up pretty good.

Well, I use it to cover up scratches or faded areas on a cars paint. It works great! Also it won't come off until you wash it off with soap!!

I also use it to clean my hands after working on my truck!!

I also use it as a starting fluid to start my piece of junk lawn mower. All I do is spray a bit of it in the carb and it starts right up!!

Also works great to remove road tar, just spray on and watch it
soften up and slide off the vehicle.
