Removing my power steering box

So my gearbox has developed the dreaded leak. I read all the threads I could about this install and I want to say thanks to all! Now, getting everything done to remove the box was a breeze (well, a moderate wind that lasted 2 hours), but pulling the box was a real PITA! All the manuals and instructions say that it comes out the bottom. I just could not get it past the exhaust manifold. I ended up going through the driver's fenderwell to get it out. Odd that the hole was big enough to push it through. Anyone else do this? Tomorrow, the install. I'm hoping that it will take about 3 hours total.

Just did mine today. I also took it out thru the fender hole. I set it in place from the top.

After a couple attempts it dropped right in. I had the coupler lined up horizontally so the pins went right in. My 4x2 box sits on the frame so once I got it there I went under and got the bolts started. Then the pins on the coupler. Watch the spark plugs and wires so you dont get tangled and I was able to move the brake lines back just enough. Oh and I tried about 4 times from under and no way! Gravity pulls hard on these suckers!

Finished with the install. Went a whole lot easier than the removal. I still went through the fenderwell. I used an S hook with a rope on the bracket where the proportioning valve is mounted. I had a friend lift the rope a little to get the first bolt started and it was mounted in an hour.
