High EGT's, low power, lots of smoke, raw diesel smell

Where are you smelling the diesel from? Is it coming from the exhaust pipe or in through the cab from the engine? Depending on which onbe it would narrow it down to a open valve or possibly a leaking fuel line. Lots of black smoke means that an injector is dumping to much fuel in and not burning it all. As for the high EGTs it could be from the engine not making power from off timed IP or the injectors stuck open. Im sure a few more guys will chime in

How hot are the EGT'S getting how many miles on the INJECTORS and IP and TURBO. A few easy simple checks is the air filter clean enough to function. I assume you have a boost gauge is it boosting up like normal. You can try to salvage a little more life outta your fuel system by changing the filter and filling the new one full of diesel kleen or a diesel fuel system cleaner i buy the stanadyne formula. Once the new filter is full and on crank the truck let run around 13 seconds thats how long i let mine run and shut down let sit overnight. Drive it the next morning giving it a healthy dose of wot pulls just watch your temps since they getting hot already. Also where is your pyro gauge tapped into the downpipe or exaust manifold at number 8 just wondering.

I do have a boost gauge however i broke the white line that goes to the gauge last week. Have a new that is going in today. IP and Injectors have 175,000 as does the turbo. All original. EGT's are reading around 900 if i get into it on flat ground unloaded, they used to never even hit 600. Air filter is not the problem. The smell is coming from the exhaust.

your getting close to needing the engines 3rd set of ip/injectors.

id say it's a safe bet that a tune up wouldn't hurt much @175k.she'll probably feel like a totally different truck.
if you had the engine timed the recommended max of every 30k miles, she would have been timed 5 times now,and close to getting her 6th timing checkup.

id say your in for a real treat soon.
the ip you want:
DB2831-5069 05069 1816340C91 7.3 Liter 1993-94 Ford F Truck - (Turbo) Auto Trans. (190 HP)
DB2831-5070 05070 1816350C91 7.3 Liter 1993-94 Ford F Truck - (Turbo) Man Trans. (190 HP)
as you know, either will work since you swapped out the E40D for the Zf5.
should be (but i don't know for sure) the same exact ip just one comes all setup for the tps is all.
some bought the N/A from U-Haul due to the good deal, even for their turbo applications, and they do just fine i guess too.
it's my understanding that the turbo to n/a pumps are not just fuel delivery, but they sport a different timing advance pattern.
so if your looking for max gains, its best to go with the turbo ip mentioned above.
i won't be looking to replace my rebuilt n/a ip when i set the banks sidewinder i got from ya on my engine though.im sure she'll go just fine for me.

yes the IP's are the same for both trans except the TPS. I found this out during my engine swap. make sure you swap over the TPS as i thought it was just cruise control. If you dont do this it will slam a E40d into gear real hard and lead to trans failure as mine did. The manual IP has a small roll pin in shaft the TPS mounts to. Use a pair of channell locks to squeeze it out
