Dyno tune questions!

This may be all over the place so bear with me. I got to messing around with my 120 dyno tune and found it locks the tq cov in od. Humm. Many have said you want a 1-1 ratio and drive was the closest. I dynoed 345hp in this setting. U was happy but before that I tried to run in drive in my 120race tune and my truck was revving out before it would build any good numbers. Dyno guy even said that's it! I said let me try with this dyno tune. Next thing I know it's in od but I'm guessing the extra load at a lower speed let my turbo build more boost and then let loose. Reason I bring this up is Joeyd got some low numbers and if I'm not mistaking Rick did as well a few years back. Are my numbers accurate? Or driven properly in drive could they have been better? Seems like if I would of lugged it in drive being a lower gear I would of gotten more. It really doesn't matter, I'm not after more numbers. I like the feel of the but dyno way more than numbers on a paper anyways. But maybe some others are a lil disappointed and it not there truck but the way the dyno was ran. Its more less up to the driver on how you run your truck. If you didn't know exactly what you were doing it would give you some off numbers!

David, have you tried the Dyno Tune while you were in "Park"? I was told (not by Jody) that the truck would stall due to the TC lock. My engine will idle normally and see no difference in engine load at the time. I can engage the Dyno Tune while driving and feel it shift even though in "Drive/3rd (TC should be already locked), but here is no downshift when I hammer the throttle. It just smokes like crazy, spools up, and hauls @zz! I may have to try this again.

A dyno tune does nothing more than prevent the truck from going out of OD, at least that what Jody's tunes do.

I have always dyno'ed in OD. My last one was at Edge a few weeks ago (I did 680 HP).

Roland remember when rick's numbers were low and he thought that couldn't be right. I think this is why. He had no way to load up the turbo in drive. Same thing for joeyd61. At least that's what I'm thinking. And yea it will up shift just not want to downshift.

My problem was not the same. The operator told me to take my trans out of OD and when I hit 60 mph to get on it. Well, at 60 mph in drive, I'm doing almost 2600 rpm with 4:10 gears, so I was already out of our power band. I think I did 364 hp and 590 tq.

Oh ok Rick. But see what I mean about the way some test are run. This thread was just a general discussion and sharing of knowledge. But thanks for clearing that up.

CSI dyno pull- FAST spec 030808 - YouTube

Jodys Dyno tune... Biggest issue I had with it was the operator letting the truck drop down too far. Took FOREVER to spool but make 467 on this pull.

See that vid sounded like it never got reved very high. On the dyno we ran on once we were spooled next came the red line.
