Whats hubcentric mean?

It says Hub centric ring. which means you will have an additional piece, like a washer placed on. That is really not what you want to do with such a heavy vehicle.

Will it work, sure. Have people done it, sure. Just one more thing that can go wrong. You have to put this on in order to make this work. Thats alot of weight riding on that weight.

I would not do it.

I don't know that you HAVE to use hub centric wheels on a Super Duty, it's just that they did. As long as you use conical lug nuts, the lugs and the friction against the hub will carry the weight. It did for years prior to 1999.

I don't find any specs on axle weight ratings prior to 2000, but looking at them would tell you.

I had to look hard to find hubcentric wheels and the KMC are not. I ended up with Fuel Offroad Hoatage wheels by MHT. They are true hubcentric wheels and the weight rating reflect this at #3500. Take a look at them.

I emailed Mickey Thompson and they said that the Classic Locks were lug centric.....I had thought that the center circle of the wheel was a bit larger than the hub to allow the hub covers to fit.

I agree completely. I also went through this last year, and also decided to stay with the factory rims.

From what I found out, all factory truck rims (not just SD) are hub centric. The hub carries the weight of the truck and load. The lugs are there to keep the wheel on, not to carry the weight. I was not able to find a rim that was hub centric and I didn't want to use a hub centric spacer, so I just said the heck with it and kept my old ugly steel wheels.

I would rather look ugly and KNOW I'm safe then be sorry.

The KMC's are lug centric it's ok to use them if you understand that they are not going to offer you the same performance in payload that the hub centric (correct) wheels will provide I have the chrome Diesels on my '02 but I treat it as a 1/2 ton because of that! And when I have them balanced I make them use the finger attachment to center off the lug holes! I hope this helps!

So I think now I have to go with hubcentric wheels for my truck. Right now I have factory 17" and im going to have to find/buy some factory 18" wheels. What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my factory 17"s? I went to a Goodyear dealer and they wont install 315/70/17 on my factory 17" wheels they said that the wheel isn't wide enough is this true? Does anyone know if I can fit 295/70/18 tires on factory 18" wheels? What this biggest size I can go with factory 18"wheels? Can the factory wheels be painted black?
