Check the fuses first. Then check if your horn works. If not it is likely the clock spring in the steering wheel under the air bag. (contacts in there for horn, cruise)
Then check the brake pedal switch. It has a deactivate switch on the brake pedal, you will see it when you look under the dash.
There is also a switch on the end of the master brake cylinder, under the hood. This fused link has a recall on it, so you can swing by a dealer and they can look up if it has been swapped out for the new one. If not they can take care of it for ya.
If all those check out good, then it is likely you cruise cervo, the brain of the system, and the most expensive part. Also located under the hood on the passenger side. I should have a picture or two in my albums if you want to look. Should be the same for the 00 year as my 02.
