My opinion on the aftermarket intakes....if you are running a standard old factory engine, It is more about the looks for most. yes they are pretty(at first), yes it allows you to put a 4-barrel carb on, and maybe even a slight different in performance. But really unless you do some modifications internally (higher compression, better breathing heads, etc.) you are only going to get minimal change, whether its an offenhauser, edelbrock,or factory 4 barrel intake. they are aluminum vs. cast iron(factory) so the aftermarket intakes are lighter. thats a bonus if your lower back hurts all the time!

Offenhauser makes good stuff, but so does Weiand, Holley, and Edelbrock. I had an Offy 360 intake on a 289 in my 50 F-1 back in high school, and I loved it. It really woke up that little engine over the stock cast iron 4V manifold I started with. Putting the Carter AFB on top of that worked even better. I'd say you have the basis of a good running engine for your project. Fire that baby up as see what happens.
