1995 f250 4x4 with a C6 transmission- I started my truck, put my foot on the break petal, and started to shift into D. I heard something from the steering column that sounded like a snap, the shifter dropped down to about N and now it can flop all about. The truck is still in Park and does not shift at all. Any ideas on how to fix?

 

You have to tear the comumn apart, there is a shift tube inside that has 2 metal tangs. One at the top and one at the bottom to transfer movement from the shifter to the trans linkage. Its not as big of a project as it sounds.
