Fuel pressure spring

I am looking for info on this upgrade and not really finding it in the tech folder. Slowly doing upgrades to this truck. Coolant filter, scan gauge 11, I now want to put this spring in. How difficult is it? Where is it? I also am going to do a coolant flush as soon as I get the thermostat housing o ring from my dealer (not normally stocked??) however i am somewhat concerned about the VC 9 flush. What are the chances of CAUSING problems with this VC 9. Is the VC 9 a dealer product only? is there a similar product available after market thats adequate. Thanks

I got my spring kit from International, pn 1854267c94....~$37. This is the kit that does not have the cover included, just the necessary gaskets, o-rings, and the blue spring. I haven't put mine in yet, but I will do it when I change the fuel filters before winter.

Fuel pressure regulator kit: 3C3Z-9T517-AG 1843065C98 or 1854267c94 (no cover)

Ford part # for the kit w/ no cover (should be much cheaper):
6E7Z-9C165-B

Vc9 is similar to Restore+ . there is also a Restore (not +) product that is a different formula.

Oh, the spring goes in the bottom of the fuel filter housing on top of the engine. (Pull the filter).

All you have to do is pull the filter and the spring is right there?

If I recall, you pull the filer to empty the bowl of fuel so you don't get a diesel bath. The housing is on the driver's side of the filter bowl (outside). Drain a little coolant too so you can either push or remove the top rad. hose. It's a little in the way of one of the bolts.

I did mine yesterday. Pretty easy and the kit had a small diagram to show where some of the o-rings go. T25 torx for the cover, 17m and 18mm for the fuel lines...there's a banjo bolt on the back of the fuel bowl that I had to use a crescent wrench on as I didn't a large enough wrench for.

***EDIT***

The cover has T27 bolts...I used T25 and they worked, but not the right size.
