77 fi50 351m wont crank when hot
Thanks. Replaced module with new. No help! Really need to get ideas on getting dist. out. It is stuck and can't move it or remove it. Seems no place to pry on it without breaking it. Can't tap it too hard either. Is there any special tool(pry bar) available to work dist out? Have tried everything to get it out but afraid will break it. Probably just f***d!

Try spraying it with some of that computer duster stuff, it's basically freon. Try it when the engine is hot it will chill the distributor down real fast then chase it with a good penetrant. It worked for me. When you get dist out coat it with never seize this will stop it from sticking again.

Thanks guys. I have ordered some Aerokroil lub as I am told it will penetrate better than other lubs for rusty stuck metal. Will ckeck out possible coil in meantime. Even if it is the coil, dist. has to be freed as timing is advanced and cent. advance is sticking. Took off cap and plastic body and put WD on it several times but still sticks. Vac advance seems to work ok, but if I get dist out, I am going to replace vac advance and pickup coil. One way or other, I am going to get this grimlin out of my dentside. Thanks much. Rod

Men, thanks for all the input. On not starting hot, I feel so stupid that I am ashamed of myself. While checking no hot start, found pos bat terminal getting hot when turning key to on position. Cleaned cable ends and bat terminals. Put load on bat with gismo from Harbor Freight and bat barley showed good. Terminal quit getting hot. Replaced bat and truck starts hot or cold!! Simple things are sometimes eliminated while looking for complex issues! Had eliminated bat before 'caue it started so good cold and wasn't that old. Still cannot get dist. out even after soaking with Aerokroil. Will keep soaking and turning on it. If it doesn't come free soon, I'm going to bust it out and get another dist. I'll try not to be stupd on dist. issue. To old to fight this crap. But, I love my dentsde. Rod

I know this is old, but for those with this 'won't start hot' problem:
My 79, 351 Windsor motor did this and after replacing EVERY DAMN THING (coil, solinoid, etc) ... it was actually the butterfly on the carb. It was staying closed. I would use an alligator clip to force the butterfly valve open and she started up. Had to replace the electronic component responsible for opening the valve.

When cold fires right up,drive to town, let sit 30 minutes wont fire, turns over good, pumped the gas, held it,gas down the whistle, starting fluid and wont fire off still.so its not a fuel issue i dont believe.come back in 2 hrs and touch the key and boom runs like a champ.possible coil????I never seen this before and am about ready to go nuts over it.Any suggestion would be greatly listened too
