The truck needs to pass the Cali smog test and I know it needs new exhaust cat/muffler included. Just trying to see if it’s going to need more internal engine work then why waste money on exhaust right now.<o></o>

The difference between low and high readings is 12.5%. Was test done while the engine was cold or hot? Did you have all of the plugs removed while you checked each cylinder? Doing a hot test is better. After doing this i would do a wet test where you squirt motor oil in one cylinder at a time to see if the readings come up, does not take much oil. If they all come up about the same, this means the rings are evenly worn, the more a reading comes up over the other ones indicates worn rings on the piston, the oil helps seal between piston and cylinder for test purposes. There is a certain % between low and high to help determine engine rebuilding. Does the engine have a skip? Someone on here should post the %. I can not remember it right now. I will look through my notes in case no one posts.
