FTE Logo,, is there one? Wanted, opinions on art work 4 my 65 F350

G'day guys.

I'm about to undertake some pin striping, scroll work and or logo design work on my 65 F350.

Firstly, if there is one, I'm thinking of an official FTE logo for the doors. Hopefully something simple in two colours, say black and white. Maybe a Ford logo with the web address and "Australian Chapter" added. Not too big mind, maybe 16" wide x 12" high.

Next, at the top corner of the front guard (fender,,lol) something like a 8" long "SO-CAL" logo, with subtle blend of pin stripe a little way back along the curve.

At the ends of the air vent plenum, I was thinking of a 6" Black and white Maltese cross with the words "Old Skool Kroozer" inside, with a little pin striping going up and a little over the plenum.

Here's what the old girl looks like now.

We're about to flatten the paint down with 800 to knock some of the peel effect out of it. Our thoughts were that if we do that now, we should do the art work before we clear it again.

Lastly, a moon eyes logo just above the hood emblem with a bit of striping going back, maybe half way along the hood centre.

Here she is in full view.

If anyone has some cool ideas, pics, logos etc. I'd be up for any suggestions,

Cheers, Ron.

Ron, There has been when Ken Payne owned the FTE.

FTE was sold to Internet Brands, Inc. and I don't know the current status of that or other logo.

IB Adrian has just left, so I don't know who is in leadership here anymore.

I know that isn't much help.

Internet Brands (HQ in El Segundo CA, just south of LAX) was purchased by Hellman & Friedman (a private equity firm) in September 2010.

AFAIK, IB Tim is the only FTE Administrator since Adrian has left. They once shared the duties.

El Segundo (Spanish translation: The Second) was founded by the Standard Oil Co. of CA, and was so named because it was their second oil refinery in CA

Known for decades as El Smellgundo by peeps, because the air stinks. There's an old joke about El Smellgundo that I cannot type here!

Yeah, ya probably right. I might just do the doors and the front corner of the guards.

I thought about stacks, but we're thinking of hooking the caravan up and going touring. The problem we might have is the van fillin up with exhaust fumes.

All food for thought.

Cheers, Ron.

Christ guys, I dunno what this forum would do without yous.
Between you and jowilker, and other generous contributors, half the old trucks owned by FTE members, would still be sittin under a tree in some paddock, rustin away to memories. You all deserve a medal, FTE Champions, or something.

Loved the history lesson. Anyway, I don't supposed you (or anyone else for that matter), knows if there was an old FTE logo kickin about. My old girl gets around and I'd love to promote the forum that way. A picture or web address would be fantastic.

As you guys know, these old rides of ours certainly break the ice and help start a conversation.

Since I've had mine, I've found two more old slicks in paddocks, another under resto, not to mention my old 62 which the new owner is doing up.

If I don't find anything, I'll design something myself, old skool style, ford logo, FTE, name, web address and Australian Chapter etc. I know there is someone doing some work in that area at the moment, but I would prefer to keep a bit of history in the theme.

I'll also try to reach AFAIK and see if he can help.

Once again, thanks for the help. You guys are Champs.

Cheers, Ron.

G'Day Ron,

I'd leave it the way it is, it's such a beauty. As far as sticking an FTE logo and pin striping goes...
personally, after racing bicycles in Europe for a buncha years in my 20's...I was
covered in logos...a walking billboard...I'm sick of logos everywhere now. It's such a huge part
of our society(here in the States) now...getting rammed down our throats...Why advertise for free for
someone?

First thing I thought when I saw your truck was how clean and uncluttered it was...

That's just one "Sepos" opinion, which doesn't count for much.

Ron, I was the actual 2nd paying member of Club FTE many years ago, and should have printed material around somewhere, but where I don't have a clue.

I do have an old tee shirt in my drawer that I shot some photos of to share. They are in my parts album on the site. Figure the year of the red truck and you will know about how old the shirt is.

Old Skool Kool, logo.

Thanks John.

I have seen the bottom one about, but I wasn't too sure how old it was, or if there was an earlier one.

If I don't come up with something better, I'll probably use it. I might leave out the newer truck's outline, just so it looks a bit more "old skool". A bit of a contradiction I suppose, with the web address and all,,,lol,, but still, I think it'll work. I'll just add, "Australian Chapter" over the top.

What do you recon, on the door in black and white, about 16" w x 12" H, or 8" x 6" on the ends of the vent plenums, between hood and screen?

All comments welcome.

Cheers, Ron.

Look under "urban Dictionary"..."Sepo" is a term used by some Aussie's for Yanks... (as in Septic Tank)

1. Sepo
American. (Australian cockney rhyming slang.) From: Yank --> Tank --> Septic Tank.
Is he a Candian? No, he's a Sepo.

2. American's

3. a name given to Americans that talk alot of *****, have monstrous horse teeth and complain about everything.

I agree with cropdusterman, leave it alone. It is perfection the way it is. That is one clean truck. I remember a guy that installed 'fake' stacks because of the same reason you have. Exhaust smell. The stackes looked great and no one knew. He also had the heat protectors that shield you from getting burned. You might have a local artist do a drawing of your truck and ad the stackes to see what it might look like. I think the stacks would look great but as for graphics of lettering, man, that truck is too perfect.

Ron.
Don't go the stacks mate, there are enough Bundy Bullets around.
Leave that to the guys with late model dual cabs with a squillion lights RM Williams stickers and no class. That truck looks good as is imho.
As Cropduster says Sepo etc, all good fun, nothing serious meant or intended.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree, them exhaust stacks, while all the rage with the "ute show" brigade, have been done to death.

This old girl is meant to be a bit different. The last thing I want to do is add that much crap to "EFY" so that she looks like all the other "Bundy Bullets",, lol. I asked for opinions, because I want to get it right and I know my own tastes can't be relied upon,,,,lol.

The Conneticut Chapter of FTE, have come up with a basic logo that I recon I will use on the doors. It's very simple and old skool kool. All I've done, is change the word Conneticut for Australia. I think they want to get it into production.

Out of courtesy, I had sought permission etc. to use their basic design, but unfortunately, I've not received a reply. As I'm only after it for myself and not for profit, I guess I'll go ahead an use it anyway. I just hope nobody gets their knickers in a knot over it.

This is the logo I intend to use. I've done it on a similar red to my truck, just to get a better idea of how it will look. Hopefully, a little understated and not over the top. I'm thinking around 16 to 18 inches wide, in the middle of the doors, below the crease. Oh yeah, don't mind the poor quality pic. It will be a lot sharper than that.

No additional pin striping etc. It seems the general consensus is to keep it simple. Oh yeah, I'm gunna get it done in a vinyl stick on for a start. If it don't look the goods, it'll come off. If it works ok, I'll have it painted on,, old school style.

The old girl used to look pretty cool with the original sign writing. As she's now been repainted, and not having a business to advertise, I think the logo will fit the bill nicely. I think so highly of this forum and some of it's members, I spread the word to anyone who wants to chat about the old girl. A FTE preacher so to speak,,,,, and no,,,, I don't have a white collar LOL.

Well that's it. Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. It'll be 3 or 4 weeks before I get it done, so if you feel the need to comment, speak now, or forever hold your peace,,,, or is that, piece,,,,, mmmmmm.

Cheers, Ron.
