92 4.9L wont crank help!!!!!

92 4.9L wont crank help!!!!!

ok so yesterday i went in to Cvs i came out put the key in pressed the clutch turened the key got a click then no power at all... my gf came to jump me yet still no power... not thinking the situation was that serious i went an bought a new battery hooked it up got power and jus one click then nothing but i still had power.... i then proceeded to buy a starter solinoid hooked that up and the same thing happened jus one click and still recieved power jus wont crank... today i pulled the starter and tapped it with a hammer some black dust and clay fell out i bolted it back up tried to start it got one click an lost all power again... please help me!!!

Sounds like you have bad battery terminals, and/or bad battery cables. Usually what happens is they get corrosion (even underneath the wires rubber insulation where you can't see it) and begin to break. Even too much corrosion will cause this but if it happened out of nowhere, It's probably a bad terminal/wire or even a bad ground

Definitely check your grounds. The main culprit is usually the main ground from the battery to the engine block or frame. This has happened to me more times than I care to remember. The best thing to do in this situation is find all the ground wires you can, take them apart and clean them and the surface they bolt to with sandpaper or wire brush. Make sure you have bare metal surfaces before putting it back together. I also use dielectric grease on all those connections, plus the terminals. Basically you need to do a tune up on all your electrical connections.
