Truck rolls when shut off and in gear
#18
Compression in the cylinders is what is holding your truck in place in a situation like this. Compression is slowly bleeding off allowing the motor to turn a little bit at regular intervals. I've seen this happen with vehicles parked on hills before.
Your parking brake is obviously not working, though. But it sounds like you're working on that.

If this is a manual truck and you have any kind of weight on it that is greater than the compression of the engine is going to roll furthermore you should always use emergency braids on any incline with a manual transmission never depend on the gears to keep the vehicle from rolling.
Also I would be extremely careful by putting the vehicle in reverse and using the engine to stop it and this has happened twice to me and let's just say the vehicle didn't move again The timing belt slipped because of the opposite pressure because of the vehicle being in reverse and rolling versus going forward versus rolling backwards in reverse
Now I have a F-150 2012 truck that's a six speed automatic that if I pull up into my driveway completely stop and let the truck roll down the driveway while in gear it will cut off on me and it's never done this before only after the transmission was replaced.
