Exclamation 76 F250 front Dana 60 dual piston calipers

I pulled my daughter's calipers off so I could put a set of pads on (truck is sold but I wasn't comfortable with anyone driving the truck without new pads on the front so I decided I would do a quickie on it...I'm regretting that now). I"ve been fighting getting the caliper back on for over an hour. What is the trick to this other than being an octopus with extra hands to hold everything in place while the locking plate is driven home? Is it better to drive the lock plate in from the front or the back side?

I've never see a Dana 60 with a caliper set-up like this. There is a small I-beam shaped locking plate that slides between the bottom of caliper and the bracket on the spindle. What a PITA!!!

Stick a screwdriver or chisel in the inside (side closest to the engine) side to hold the caliper up. Then drive the support in from the outside. It should go in with a ball peen hammer. Good luck!

Great tip on using a screwdriver as a wedge. I can't believe I didn't think of that (I think I was too pissed off trying to fight it!).
