2011 Escape Accumulator/Dry

So 17 yo daughter just picked up a used 2011 AWD. She is very proud...

Dad is doing his due diligence giving it the once over. Starting to read about the accumulator drier issue. I have watched the video by fordtech makuloco. It was very helpful.

My question is, does anybody know the offending part number(s) of the bad drier? The one in her vehicle does not look exactly like the one in the video, and I am wondering if it is replaced already. It is not part #BL8Z19C836-b.

I found the label, wrote the part number down, but I am at work and cant reference it right now. The drier was made in Canada, that much I remember, and it has a black plastic cover over the "canister".

I am going to replace it before a problem, but want to double check to make sure I really need to...I can post the part number later today if needed. Thanks to all. YD

Do so. Keeps from wasting time.

Part number located on a white plastic sticker on the drier is 9L84-19E961-AD.

I read a notice put out by ford in the thread linked below that describes the part number for the "new or good" drier as BL8Z19C836-B. It also refers to this same part as "engineering number BL8419E961-AB". Not sure why it mentions two part numbers and why that number is called an engineering number. The two numbers are almost same???

Again, trying to figure out if this is the original problematic drier, or is it an updated more recent replacement. The drier or associated mounting hardware does not look like a wrench was ever taken to it. Google has not been much help so far. KD

An engineering number is different from the service spare part number. The first is used for procurement and manufacturing, the second for logistics and service post-production. A dealer parts department will have the cross-reference, I've yet to see one available online.
