Sorry for the temporary hijack......

Man, that's ridiculous. I feel for you my friend. Some of these folks just go way too overboard with this stuff. I hope you get everything sorted out.

Lets just say we don't see eye to eye! Yes he did, I specifically took the truck back to my dealer after the deletes to show them what I did to have a driveable truck. We argued for a while, he told me he would make a note against my vin so I could not get any warranty work ever. I told him that was fine, if I didn't want him to know I would not have showed him.....

The part that bothers me the most is that they just don't care. My CEL was on for 4 months. My brand new truck was in their shop for a total of 15 days in 2 months. Limp mode, 10 MPG empty, no power etc etc. I sepnt thousands on rental vehicles and WAY MORE in lost time and aggrivation. If they would have even hinted at giving a heck the whole thing may have been a bit more bearable.

Anyway, sorry for the rant and hijack!

I feel exactly the same way. My truck is still a dog, and very unsafe. My zero-t0-sixty times vary from 16 seconds when the truck is unhappy, to 12 seconds when it is running better. Neither number is appropriate, and indicates an underlying problem.
Sure my truck only cost $75K, so you can't really complain about issues/service in this price range (LOL). Like your's, my dealer has no interest in doing his job. It's a blame game. And calling Ford directly has been a mixed bag. I spoke now, to about x6 different representatives. Some totally agreed with me, some with the dealer. Each one stated that only his (her) opinion counted, and that all the other representatives had "misspoken".

If we may further hijack this thread, how does she run now darren32, without the factory emissions stuff? I'm told there is a big jump in fuel economy/pep after an improvement like that? Are you happy as far as to the original issues being resolved by eliminating a big chunk of unnecessary emission complexities via a low-tech delete? You must be running a tuner, right?

I still don't think they can void your warranty (or mine) arbitrarily because of certain aftermarket parts. If you came in for a defective tire, surely they couldn't get away with blaming it on your aftermarket exhaust!? Or on my all-weather floormats. And while I can see how an aftermarket twin turbo setup would naturally cause additional 'unplanned for' engine stress, if afterwards your tailgate lock malfunctions, I don't see the connection in blaming the dual turbos. To me that's just as illogical as wanting the dealer to fix (under warranty), your blown aftermarket turbo system or head gasket.

Hijack continued (sorry).

I love the truck now!!!!
It runs GREAT. I have a 4.5" lift and 36" x 13 tires and I still get about 18 - 19 MPG hwy and 16 ish city. 10 pulling a 35' 10 - 12,000lb 5th wheel. I was only getting 10 - 12 bone stock!

I would not have continued on with the truck as it was. I would have given it back to the dealer and taken whatever they would give me for it. There is no way I would have sold it privately, I would not wish that on my worst enemy! So I spent $3,000.00 and coulnd not be hapier with spending it. Not a single issue or CEL since I did it in January. Heck, it even turned off my TPMS light which was driving me CRAZY!

I have H&S Black Maxx and also went with the EGR delete (I can see the turbo now!).

I do however take full responsibility for the Warranty. With the H&S stuff you can push things pretty hard. I believe stock the truck put out about 22 PSI boost max (could be wrong). With the H&S I have gotten up to 38 PSI!!! Pulled the 5th wheel up 9% grade for about 6 miles at 80 MPH and 36 - 38 PSI boost the whole time. With the aFe intake, I thought the turbo was gonna blow, it was super loud. All may not agree, but I think that is pretty cool. If the turbo is weak I will find out for you guys!! If I do blow it up I will pay to fix it (or maybe put on industrial injections twin set up and see what the motor can take!). Like I said, I am not hiding anything. It will not be the first thing I have blown up and likely not the last.

Bottom line it that I love the truck now. What I did is not right for everyone but it is right for me.

I think I pretty much have the same setup as you and I too was amazed at how much boost this think makes now. Night and day difference. I too wouldnt go back to stock although I am thinking about getting a muffler. The sound it makes coming off of the throttle is pretty loud and turns a lot of heads.

I have the delete pipe with the stock muffler and it's not too bad. I did it that way because it still looks stock. But the stock muffler is pretty small. I am thinking of going with a full stainless system and a bigger muffler as well. Just waiting for MBRP to make a down pipe! I have had their stuff on a lot of sleds and love it!

Well, here's the official diagnosis and fix. Truck coded P242A. After clearing and a road test, it coded again with EGT13 running 2,500. They replaced EGT13. I hope that will do it. Thanks for the input, and for some ideas if the problem keeps showing up.

Fcampy, thanks for the update. Glad it was minor. Hope it doesn't become intermittent, and I'm happy your dealer was willing to work on your new truck under warranty. Most of these problems seem to be sensor related, and so if the truck computer percieves there is a problem, the easiest thing for it to do is wait for the Ford cavalry via a tow to the dealer. This may be very inconvenient at times, or even downright dangerous, depending on the individual circumstances.

You may want to have with you at all times a code clearer. I have one in my truck. After getting stranded dozens of times, for $50 I now have a way to clear all codes and get the truck to run without a tow. Just a few button pushes after I write down the displayed codes, and the truck magically restarts. This is very handy if it strands you in a really dangerous location, or a bad neighborhood, or any number of other scenarios.

Does anyone have a master list of what the codes mean?

Looks like "" makes a smiley face thing . So where you see it above it is "". Sorry! Computers and I don't get along (as I am sure you are aware).

Thanks

Outstanding, darren32! Thank you for that list.
And patience does pay off sometimes. Sometimes not.
I can't wait to do what you've done! I had MBRP's Cool Duals on my last truck, and loved their stuff also. Am leaning toward the Spartan tunes right now, but we'll see...

As far as your keyboard inserting unwanted characters, a quick fix is to add a space just before the unwanted character manifests, then backspace out removing the space...should be a temporary fix.

von/darren-

Where might I purchase one of these code clearers? Seems like a good ideas to have on onboard just to get you home one night.

Any auto parts store will have them. Just make sure you get one that can read AND clear the codes. I believe some can only read but not clear?

Thanks
