My 03 batteries are nine years old,but going to replace them this week.Motor-craft are $110 walmart $95.Thinking that my stock batteries did me good and don't rock the boat. What are you guys using?

You have to look at the warranty too. I think the mc's have a 1 year longer free replacement. Correct me if wrong. Consummer reports also lists the Walmart super maxx as the number 2 battery rcommended. Do your homework. Batteries are again like oil. What are you comfy with and where are your local dealers.

I just had my MotorCraft batteries replaced under warrenty no questions asked. The BXT series (Tested Tough Max) has a 36 month free replacement and a 100 month limited warrenty. I saved my receipt a got a new pair of batteries under the 36 month warrenty when I noticed my trucks starter was struggling, and I even changed out the batteries right in front of the service dept so I didn't get charged for a core fee as well.

Walmart's 3 yr free replacement is good and they are everywhere. Usually open 24/7 so you won't be stranded.

Walmarts batteries are built by Exide, Ford's by Johnson Controls who also builds Interstate. You might find the batteries for less at an Interstate dealer and it's the same batteries as the Motorcraft.

FYI Walmart has dumped their pro rated battery warranty as of 2010! Now it is either a 1 year or 3 year 100% free replacement depending on the battery you buy. But not really a huge issue to me I always hate dealing with a prorated warranty!

Autozone has done the same as of 2011.

The Motorcrafts come in two different CCA ratings; I went with the 750...but there's an 850 offered as well. Both come with the 36 month free/100 month warranty. I went back with the 750 since that's what my '04 came from KTP with and they lived for 7+ years with no issue. The dealership is going to prorate them after the 36 months...but any dealership can/should handle the issue if your out on the road. My thing with WM is their "if it didn't come from the OEM with it...we ain't touching it" attitude they function under. Buyer be warned when it comes to tires for sure.

I just went with the Sears Platinums. 875 CCA but they're kinda pricey. Heard a lot of good things about them.

Who makes WalMart batteries depends on the size. The ones I bought said Johnson Controls right on the top of the battery.

Only three battery manufacturers in the US: Johnson Controls, Exide Technolgies, and Penn-Deka. MOST of what you're paying for when you buy a more expensive name-brand battery is the flashy sticker.

The flashy sticker MIGHT have some slightly better specifications (MIGHT), but generally, they just put that sticker on a bulk-build battery.
