long bed vs short bed srrings???
1956 f100 long bed 272 v8 4 spd on the floor is my starting point. I procured a 1953-1955 short bed frame less what was riveted to the frame. Perches, cab mounts ect.
I am using the short bed frame to stretch my long bed chassis for my crew cab project.
Basically I cut the long bed chassis behind the cab, and the short bed chassis in front of the cab mounts and mated the two .
My problem is the long bed springs on the axle are longer than the short bed spring perch spacing.
I dont want to lenghen the spring shackle spacing to make it work. Id rather keep the short bed spacing as it sits.
So now I have to find Short bed rear springs. Anyone know what fits? other years to look for? obviously 53-56 f100 short bed are the same, but anyothers???

I'm not the mid-50 specialist here, but from reading previous posts, I believe the rear springs are longer on the 55-6 than the 53-4 on the half ton short beds. That limits your interchange choices to those two years. Depending on the rest of your suspension plans, you may be better off to buy new springs that you know will give you the ride and ride height you want.
