what do you think of a 6' Meyer electric snow plow?

I have a 97 f250 HD that I will be using for snow plowing this winter. I will be doing a lot of residential roads and driveways.

I have a line on a 6' Meyer electric snow plow. Its a 1999 model in good shape. It comes with a mount off an older ford truck. I would prefer a hydraulicplow but what do you think of electric snow plows?

Any idea what its worth? I can get it for about 300 bucks...

First question I want to ask...well that I would ask on something like this is...how much power will this thing draw under full load (I assume the parts that are usually hydrolics are the electric parts instead?) and will your trucks stock alt be able to keep up with any demands it may have (i don't know much about electric plows since most of what is used here are hydraulics or snow blowing machines)

That plow is too small. A 6 foot plow won't even clear the width of your truck. If it came off a Ford truck, it was probably a Ranger. You will want at least a 7 foot blade. 7.5 or 8 feet would be best for your truck.

kd0axs is spot on with the blade size. I had a 7.5 foot blade on a '79 F350 srw and when it was angled hard to either side, I was not clearing the full track width of the tires...

Also, what exactly do you mean by an "electric" plow? The hydraulics on most plows are run by an electric pump. Some plows are raised and lowered by an electric winch, but those are mostly small plows like you would have on an ATV.
