1950 M- series Mercury trucks

Just a quick question for anyone else with a 1950 Mercury truck.

I'm curious about the wiper set up on this year. I have a single speed, single arm electric wiper with an American-Bosch model WWA6V wiper motor.

What does everyone else have? Would I be correct to assume the Mercury trucks got the electric wipers begining with the 1950 model year?

Just a head's up !

This question can be asked in the 48-60 truck forum

Tech questions are supposed to be asked in the tech forums

This forum is for Canadian National FTE discussion

I'd love to have a 50 Merc, that's the year I was born.

I realize that. But I suspect the Canadian trucks came with electric wipers a model year before the US built trucks. Thus, I want to hear from other Canadian owners of 1950 model trucks.

Or rather, owners of 1950 trucks built by Ford of Canada.

Right, & the guys to answer this are in the 48-60 Truck TECH forum.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=411780

This is Not a tech forum.

You'll be waiting a long time for answer here on this forum because of the reason just above.

I made a conscious decision to not post this in 48-60 forum before I began the thread.

Others have gone there with questions regarding Canadian models, and nobody has been able to answer them. The Canadian Mercury parking lights and chrome trim even seem to be stumpers.

two cases in point are these threads:

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=412260
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=416385

Thus, I believe this is the right place for questions regarding Canadian
specific parts and options from Ford of Canada. Waiting isn't a problem.

I think we should also put a sticky thread in here that would outline deviations on the 1946 - 1968 Canadian Market trucks.

That way, questions on Canadian parts would be centralized here, instead of spread out in numerous other sub-boards.

Cheers.

Again....I'm sorry you need to argue.

This is NOT a tech forum.
Click the link I posted in post # 4

You are posting a Tech question in a NON-Tech question forum.

Have a look at what section this forum is in.

Your choice... sit here & wait an eternity or post in the 48-60 TRUCK (Ford or Mercury) forum

I am merely stating you are in the wrong forum here & the 48-60 Truck forum is Also for Mercurys ...whether people answer there are not.

Dennis,

I really don't think I'm the one arguing here. I have read the link, today, and when Eric first put it there.

" This forum is for residents of the Canada to post regional concerns or questions."

And my question is regional (Canadian Region) and involves Ford of Canada variation in the pre auto pact Canadian market.

As you point out, If people don't answer, then so be it.

Regional.... means FTE or fordtruck.com concerns or questions.

As in getting all the Canadian Province's together for an FTE meet .

It isn't for Ford of Canada stuff. That's tech info

Perhaps I can help a little more ?

As you probally know the earlier 47-50 Mercury trucks just had different front sheetmetal than the Ford trucks. The 51-68 trucks just had the different trim. If the Mercury had electric wipers the Ford's had it too. There has been guys with electric wipers on their 48's. If anything Ford of Canada was behind the US. We never got a I-6 engine till '1957 while they had it in the 40's. The only thing the Ford of Canada did better was they made a full flow oil filter system for the flathead V-8's for 2 years. You are best posting in the 1948-60 forum as Mil1ion has stated. BTW I have 2 51 Mercury M-3's.

I have seen too many 56 Ford trucks with the 6 cylinder, don`t know if they were Canadian built or not. The 6`s could have started in 55 as that is when the 272 V8 was sold in Canada.

That is the same model wiper motor on my 41 IHC,,although the "V" identifies the length of the shaft, mine is WWA6C, shorter shaft. My neighbour is using a Hough wiper motor that fits fine in his 46 ford truck. I don't have a Merc yet but I have a start,,gotta 52 Merc tailgate.
