My truck is retired as a truck. All she hauls now is people. Well when the 460 is in it will haul something else too I have a '90 4x4 for "truck" duties. If I was going to leave it at stock height I would have never taken the I Beam front suspension out. I'm trying to figure out how to get a few more inches down without major frame mods. My original plan was a MII front suspension and Jag rear. When I did some homework for the price difference and what I was using the truck for (driver not a trailer queen) I opted for the CV IFS and the TBird IRS. Gives me roughly 5" drop all around (I may have a bit more up front), excellent handling & ride.

If this got covered already sorry to ask again, but why didn't you just raise the front of the truck up the few inches? Rather then go to all the work of getting the bed down?
Not sure who you where asking me "FoPar1972" or "elgemcdlf" dam chater box elgemcdlf ....... it's all good I'll give an answer to:

On my truck I "C" notched the bed rails to bring the bed down because my truck is only a 2 wheel drive and now short bed and I believe they look the best lowered (just my opinion) At some point I will be putting a lowering kit on it. So to raise the front would be going the wrong way for this project.

It was toward you, and that does answer the question thanks. Just seemed simpler but I see why you did what you did

awesome work

I will have to say that there is a lot of skill at work on putting this ride together. Someone else sent me a link to your thread as i am wanting to put a 69 f350 crew cab on an 89 f-250 reg cab lwb frame. I'm thinking the wheel base will not work unless i lengthen the frame. Not going to hijack, but i'll keep a close watch and keep doing my homework before i pick up the torch. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

yep, to acheve the correct wheel base it looks like you would have to lengthen the frame. I posted the wheel base for the chassis you are talking about on your other post.

ok so it's been a little while and not much to report, everyone in the family got really sick and it just sucked the energy right out of us. So just now starting to pull out of it and can't wait to get back to work on the truck. I've been thinking about custom grill inserts but not sure what I want to do yet. I picked up some metal mesh samples to see what might look good. I really like some of them and think I have it narrowed down to one.... .....maybe.....oh dang I don't know.......

The one I like the best is in the uper right corner of the first pick, what do you guys think/like?

I thank you for this thread. I am now on the hunt for a 98-02 F150 to do this as my next project. This is awesome.

Back to work on the front end today. The flat part that's tucked under the front bumper was damage on both ends, so I pounded them back into shape. I also got the frame parts close to lined up but my front bumper is not at all straight so it's making it near to impossible to line up. So it looks like I will need to order a new bumper before I will be able to finish this part of the build.

Very strange on this 2002 frame, not sure why but the drivers side frame rail is larger than the passenger side. as you can see in the next pic's I had to notch, tuck, and overlap the driver side but the passenger side is overlapped by the old frame.
