So this project is just insane. It makes my plan to clean up my '70 250 completely boring! I've been reading through and am thoroughly impressed by your work. I do have one question:

What do you register/insure it as when you're done?
2002? 1977? 1972? 1983.6 (the average)!

Sorry guys been real busy on a baja bug build for a friend. His wife has cancer so he couldn't work on it any more. He asked if I could finish it but there is a ton of work to complete it so the truck has been put on hold until the baja is out of my shop. For some reason I didn't get any updates about the post you guys had left???

Dang my friend, you are an artist!! Love the thread!! Keep it coming!!
Thank you, Hope to soon just couldn't say no to a friend in need, as soon as the baja is done it will be sold and I can get back to the truck.

A good build has to have picks to back up the story. At least I think so. Also helps anyone thinking of doing the same swap. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah the 24 were more to get my buddy off my back about using them and just having some fun. On his newer body style they looked good but never would work on the older trucks. but they did help me score a cool old hi-boy, so they did work out after all....lol

LOL yeah I've had others ask me that to. but it will be registered as a 72 or 69 (might swap a 69 cab onto it, less rust) But whatever the vin says is what it will be. As for yours do what you can and make it "yours" We all have different skills and budgets but these trucks are cool and they deserve to stay on the road. So do it up the best you can and drive it proudly....

Curious as to if this project was ever completed or shelved like many others. Looked like a really cool idea.

yeah it kinda got shelved for now as too many other projects took over the shop and my time but I have not given up on it at all, still planning and buying parts for it.

Thanks for the update. I was really interested in seeing this one completed. Should be a pretty nice ride with the updated frame. Good luck with the other projects. Best of luck in the new year.

Thanks guys, the only progress to report is that even though I'm not working on it I do keep planning and picking up parts. Something new is I have decided to go with a fuel injected 4.6L from a 98 mustang I picked up. It was my nephew's car that he loved and took good care of until someone rear-ended him and totaled the car. The motor still runs great and is real strong so it should be a good fit as that is same type motor that was in the F150. I also picked up a lowering kit for the 2002 chassis to drop it about 4" and a set of aftermarket wheels and tires that where on a 2003 Lightning. The wheels are a little big for my taste but will do for now.

here are a few pic's as an update isn't any good without them....lol

The 98 Mustang

It got hit so hard that the door overlaps the rear door jam by a good 4" and it buckled the door and the front fender on the the drivers side.

The wheels on the 2003 Lightning

The day I got them

And last of all how the project sits today....

Sorry bout the nephew's car but it looks like some good parts to be had. The wheels look great but I agree, an inch or two smaller diameter would make them fit perfectly. Thanks for the update and good luck!

Yeah, I'll pull the engine and trany along with all the electrical equipment out of the mustang. Then I'll part out everything not needed from it and hope that I can end up with the engine and trany for free... If I'm lucky I might make a few bucks...
