F250 Turbo Lag

F250 Turbo Lag
I have a 2007 F250 6.0l. When I take off, the turbo lags more than usual and it blows out a lot of black smoke. But once it gets up to speed it runs good. I had the turbo cleaned out, put new fuel filters in, and still no change. I took it to a ford dealer and they don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas of what it could be, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

It could also be something as simple as a clogged air filter or other obstruction. Chances are its not that. But it could be. Clogged filter=less air flow, meaning the extra fuel that gets dumped into the cylinder gets thrown out as black smoke behind your truck.
Thats just one theory. I like to start checking for problems at the cheapest solution first.

They said the EGR valve was good. The air filter looked cleaned also. I had the turbo replaced and it only has 6,000 miles on it. It was under warranty. The dealer said they don't see black smoke, but i showed them. They also said the turbo was lagging because i have big tires on it. But it is getting worse. i had another mechanic work on it, and he is at a dead end also.

The '07's are notorious for throttle lag.
The issue is a programming issue put in place by Ford, at a place in the PCM and FICM that's too "deep" for even custom tunes to reach. The black smoke at launch indicates that someone has tried, and failed, to address the issue.
Aside from FICM reprogramming, the only way of dealing with it effectively is to radically change your driving habits, so that you no longer punch the throttle, but instead roll into it. That, and start driving it like it's a big-rig. If yours is anything like mine, you'll need a hole in traffic big enough for a Freightliner in order to get into traffic. (Since I drive a Freightliner for a living, that's been easier than trying to re-train my right foot. )

If you're in 4x4, it'll sit there till you let go of the brake, and then hang on for dear life, as you'll be in the next zip code before you can say "WTF!?!"
If you're in 4x2, the rear tires will break loose right around the time you hit 10 pounds of boost, and you'll make an impressive smoke cloud until the tires heat up enough to hook up, and then you'll be in the next zip code.
