Help, broke shock mount!

I was changing the shocks on my 91 4x4 1/2 ton today, when I broke the top mount for the rear pass. side. I was removing the nut, and the whole stud broke off the bracket that comes off the frame. I have one week before I have to leave again for school, and I need to find out what I can do to fix this (properly.) The bracket is only held on by three rivets; can I just grind the rivets off and get another bracket (I know where there are a 90 and an 89 parts trucks) and then attach it to my frame. If so, will it have to be riveted again, or will welding or even (I know, I know) bolting it on work? I have never had so much trouble changing shocks before. The front two took less than a half an hour. The back ones have had me going almost three hours.... Thanks

Help, broke shock mount!

you should be fine with bolting a different bracket on there. use grade 8 bolts, and use the biggest that will fit through the hole. use lock nuts on it too. and it definitely won't hurt to weld it some too if you want unless you wanna take it off again some day if it breaks again!

I did the same thing in my ranger. I ended up grinding the area of the bracket smooth, drilling a hole in the bracket and welding a grade 8 bolt to the bracket. Still holding.
