1991 F250 tranny going in a 1993 F250

I am wanting to put a 1991 transmission in to a 1993 both are E4od trannys and are 7.5 with 4x4 what if any problems will I encounter and how do I avoid or get past them? The trucks are both f250 with the xlt package the only differecee I see so far is the 1991 has the overdrive button on the dash not the shifter

The only problem might be that the electrical plug connectors might be different. If that is the case you could just swap over the solenoid blocks, I would think.

The MLPS and solenoid connectors changed in 1995. This swap should be a plug-n-play assuming no one has updated those parts previously.

If they have, follow Lazy K's advice.

Check the shift arm on the trans, 91 has linkage the 93 has cable shift. not shure but that might have to be delt with. did same swap some time ago now i think that was the only prob. otherwise plug and play, good luck.

I would have done the tranny swap if a friend of the neighbors had not checked the codes and such, the abs light was not on due to it being burned out, but the speedo was not working. It was running so bad the it felt like the tranny was going to come apart that was why I was going to do the tranny swap as I thought that there was no way it would be an easy fix. Live and learn. But it now has a new issue.
