Depending on how it is wired, it shouldnt be hard at all. Get a 3-pole ignition switch, eliminate the wire that runs from the push to the ignition switch, run the other wire from the push to the starter pole on the switch.
If your push button is giving you grief, I would just replace it. They work well.
Around here I don't trust the push to start. So I was wondering how much of a hassle is it to put an actual keyed ignition in a 1948 F2?
What's not to trust? Start buttons are coming back in several new vehicles. I personaly have never ever had a problem with a push start button, they are very dependable, probably more so than a keyed ignition...just my opinion.
Actually I don't know if my truck has many wires left at all. I will have to get a wiring harness at some point, the wires I've seen so far I would not trust at all.
