Ignition?

Around here I don't trust the push to start. So I was wondering how much of a hassle is it to put an actual keyed ignition in a 1948 F2?

Depending on how it is wired, it shouldnt be hard at all. Get a 3-pole ignition switch, eliminate the wire that runs from the push to the ignition switch, run the other wire from the push to the starter pole on the switch.

If your push button is giving you grief, I would just replace it. They work well.

What's not to trust? Start buttons are coming back in several new vehicles. I personaly have never ever had a problem with a push start button, they are very dependable, probably more so than a keyed ignition...just my opinion.

Actually I don't know if my truck has many wires left at all. I will have to get a wiring harness at some point, the wires I've seen so far I would not trust at all.

One word man--kids. I bet that is what makes her nervous. These trucks will crank even with the key removed.

EDIT: Sorry. I was typing the same time you were. But I see we were pretty much on the same page. I worry about my kids hitting my starter button.

Yes my 3 1/2 year old grandson absolutely loves that truck, he thinks it's Mater, so yeah that is a very good thought too.
