just saw this and couldn't decide to post it in automotive fails because of the axle breakage or post it in here as an example of how NOT to "make" your own trailer. i chose here.
Dan, a few people here (Ed and maybe 73 or his brother) broke a 60f housing. The cast center chunk is fairly week. Most of the bling 60s are forged aluminum with a shatpot full of cnc'ing with pressed in DOM tubes.
I hear ya Larry. I'm contemplating a front hook point on my truck - we hook from the front here. I don't get suck unless I break. The last time the 466 went up in smoke we had a dually tractor stood almost verticle to get me out. The boggers were flush with the top of the mud.
Here's 1 of three little handy pullers we made to pull spindles. It's a spindle nut welded to a piece of tube with a flat plate and nut welded to the top. It makes for fast work on changing axle shafts! We made one for a D44, D60, and D35. Cheaper than the Snapon or Matcto ones!
I got a bunch of other stuff I've made, but the really trick stuff is on my ranger now
I have my reveicer mounted deer skinning hoist that I dreamed up and had Nick weld for me if you want that. Makes the neighbors look at me funny when I hang a deer off the back of the truck in the driveway.
We drilled more holes and mounted a clay pigeon thrower to it for shooting skeet in the back yard. Works great for just about any need of a small table.
