FE Aluminum Intake

Nearly all of the engines that we, the consumer can get our hands on were not designed as a "Racing Engine", they were just modified to do the job. The primary engineering goal was to build an engine that could be a good work horse for a certain number of years while lending itself to improvements and enlargement as needed. All the while to be the least expensive to produce that the engineers could design. It was only exceedingly good luck to design engines that have proven to be truely exceptional like the; Ford FE, in 427 trim, Chrysler Hemi in both the 1st. and 2nd. generation designs, Chevrolet's big block in 396 and 427 sizes as well as the small blocks of Ford and Chevrolet.
Both Ford and Chevrolet have engines that have weathered the storm in their small blocks which have evolved into some remarkable performers.
I think that we should all consider these as pretty remarkable accomplishments by the engineers and manufacturers that have designed and produced the engines that we love and for providing them to us at a pretty reasonable cost.
Like an old Ford FE I could go on forever with this subject.

Not really replying to the OP here. I just think it's ironic how some manufacturers made a lot more diversified products then as compared to now.
