Pulled off the head with the broken exhaust bolts. Today I will attempt to get the other 5 bolts out and remove the broken ones. Hopefully it goes well and can do some clean up and put it back together.

Fired up the 79 Bronco. It's my backup if I have issues with the 65.

I got the plugs out pistons lubed and turned it over by hand.Drained the fuel tank and engine oil(love to smack the guy that put the plug over the cross member) and she is ready to fire up.Now I just need some round tires to back it out of the shop and make some smoke.

I finally got my 65 running the other day. Once I got the head and intake back on I could not for the life of me get it to start. I had marked the position of the rotor on the distributor and put it back in the same way. After fighting with it for a few hours I put it at top dead center and put the rotor pointing in the right spot.

Should have started..............it didn't. I noticed on the cap that the wire for #1 plug was out by one spot. I moved every wire one spot and tried again. Once again nothing. Finally I pulled all the wires off the cap and put them in the proper spot and order, back to tdc, put distributor in the correct position and tried again. Success.

Still need to find an exhaust manifold though.

Yesterday I put another alternator in my 65. Still need to find an exhaust manifold.

Started the Bronco and changed a couple marker lights. I'll sure be glad once my registered mail comes back.

Finally got the registraition for my Bronco.

It kind of went like this,

left on property in 2003
property changes hands
owner wants it gone
I say I'll take it
call ICBC (insurance corporation of British Columbia)
you know who the owner is (reg. in Bronco)
guy says that's the hard part
send letter to original owner
piece of cake right
letter comes back
told I have to wait 30 days
call icbc told I have to wait 30 days
walking through another agents office.....don't have to wait 30 days
getting excited now
get some papers and have them notarized
back to icbc agent
it's almost mine
doesn't know how to fill out paper
calls icbc
big mistake
I'm doing something illegal
I make another call, you guessed it to icbc
property owner has to repossess vehicle and give it to me
that ain't gonna happen
me now thinking why did I have to fall in love with this piece of..........
ok cool down time
call icbc next day, I don't like the way you guys are doing things dept.
talk to fellow, first one to give contact info to me
talk to fellow again
and again
another fellow calls, I'm not home
this is Friday so have to wait all weekend to see what he has to say
call this morning, for some reason kind of nervous
he tells me he is going to let me register vehicle
I have his name and number as well
gather up my papers and off to icbc agent again
lady at icbc confused, wants to call icbc office
WHAT???????
call this guy he says it's all good
who's this guy they ask
I say I don't know but he has his own phone number so he must be important
he's not in his office
continue with paper work another nice lady knows what to do
how much did you pay for it
guy gave it to me I say
need a value, icbc needs to get something out of this
ok 50 bucks
that might not be enough, if it's not they will probably call you
whatever
paper work complete
I give them some money and Bronco is mine

I wanted to do this all legal and by the book.

The registration was in the truck. I could have easily filled them out signed the owner signature and no one would have been the wiser...................makes ya wonder don't it.

Yesterday I finished getting the pipe connected to the exhaust manifold. Got the front marker lights working and one signal. Alternate and regulator changed. No more alt light now.

Today got the last signal light working. Installed half the seat belts. Found a couple tail light lenses yesterday. They are from a 1970 but they are the same size.

This afternoon I took off the GMC tailgate and put on a somewhat rusty Ford tailgate. At least it's made by the same company.

PilotPete is starting off with a positive reputation.
Well I did some pre-road trip work on my 7.3...changed oil, changed trans fluid in the ZF6, changed transfer case fluid, changed both diffs' fluid, overall checkup and good to go!

Now time to sleep, tomorrow we're heading up to the interior for a week of skiing. So
Hard to sleep when you're excited!

Pete
