Went and checked my hitch, it is a Ford unit.

Class IV
10K 1000K Distributing
5000 500 Carrying

What kind of hitch is the trailer? Pintle? or 2 5/16?

The trailer is 2 5/16 and I use a Equal-I-zer brand weight distribution hitch from Progress Manufacturing. Here's a pic of it hooked up to the trailer.

Haha, that's a funny typo...considering I meant "kick"...but hick is pretty funny.

Dim Sum is 186 lbs...if you want to subtract that from the truck weight.

I figured with just me and a full tank, the truck would be just shy of 8k.
Good info thanks for sharing. Imagine in a truck about 6500 lb how the 6.2L would do... wait thats the Raptor

Matt I beleive you have the 2011 F350 - 6.2L V8, 4.30s. I have a 2011 F250 6.2L with 3.73. I was curious how much rear end squat you got from that load. I pulled a trailer and bobcat early spring figured to be maybe 10,300 which I was surprised the amount of squat. Truck had plent of get up and go so wanted to hear about your expereince.

Bearpa, it would be interestin to see the difference of speed up the hill with a 6.2 with 3.73s and a 6.2 with 4.30s

It could be you had more tongue weight with your trailer and the position of the Bobcat. With the trailer we had it was about 1,500 lbs of the 15,300 gross lbs of the trailer (13,800lbs net) on the tongue or about 10% which is usually the ideal percentage. If you took your trailer and had 20% tongue weight then you are looking at 2,000 lbs (assuming 10,000 lbs gross trailer weight) on the truck instead of 1,500lbs like we had. So it's hard to make a good comparison in this case unless you knew your tongue weight.

Another thing to keep in mind we used a weight distribution hitch.

The trailer was loaded about as perfect as could be, had about 1500lbs on the tongue so it didn't squat too much.Mike had a weight dist. hitch as well. There's a pic on the first page (I think) that shows my truck hooked up to it. I'm MORE than satisfied with the truck, performed great imo.

edit - d'oh, Mike beat me to it.

I'm definately looking forward to the next one, and planning on being there! Hopefully I'll catch wind more than a day in advance...
I know some folks in Glenmont; School is 120 miles from Millersburg, and Home is 140, so the trip should be feasable, considering the trip from home to college is 200... I'd like to see what my V10 does, compared to some of the newer trucks, and Diesels.

A manual v-10 in comparision with mikes 4R100 v-10 would be very interestin.

But we need a ecoboost and a 3v V10!

On a better note, my truck was always haven cold start issues and had a slight miss when ever the oil temp was under 180 degrees. Once it was over 180, it ran good (besides the lag lmao) Funny thing is, i started my truck monday morning at 7 am which was the morning after the meet and the truck started amazing! No miss, no cold start, had power while running under 180 degrees oil temp.. Looks like beatin the crap outta my truck at the meet fixed that issue . hahaha and its still runnin great when the oil temps under 180. And its been two days so far after the meet

Funny you mention that Matt, my mileage has increased around town after flogging my truck up that hill last weekend.

A family friend has an '03 F-250, 6.0L Extended cab, Shortbed, FX4, 6 Speed. He is the original owner, and has had all the recalls done on it. Suprisingly, it's been an amazingly reliable truck to him, and it still has the EGR system intact! The tech. at the Ford garage where he had all his work done told him to take his truck out every now and then, and flog the crap out of it. As is get it good and hot and burn all the soot out, driving it like a teenager stole it. So, 'bout once a month, he takes it out, flogs the crap outa it on his way to work, and always sees improvements somewhere. I guess those 6.0L's just like to be beaten every now and then!
