hi guys,
My wife and I are looking at replacing her 05 liberty with an 06 explorer. Well I was just in the explorer forum and found a thread talking about the same two-piece plug design and breakage issues that us with our 5.4s have had to deal with. Well, I thought I had read in this forum that the 4.6L didn't have this problem. Did they put a different version of the 4.6 in the explorer than the f-150? I guess I need to know this so if it is a problem I can try to negotiate the plug change as part of the trade(it has 82,000). Thanks guys for any answers.

 

Its just the 5.4 3 valve.

these guys are talking about the same problems the 5.4 plugs have but in the 4.6L. What gives??

 

The Explorer 4.6L has 3 valve heads which may have the same problem as the 3 valve 5.4L. Until recently the truck 4.6L only came with 2 valve heads.

 

ok thanks. So if it is a 4.6L3V then it probably has this problem.
