Mine also. It's almost almost a classic. Those guys with the '09's really have the collector trucks.

After reading that article, sounds like we have the last of the full size 1/2 ton trucks. Can you beleive a 4 cylinder EB as a base engine in a 1/2 ton truck and V8's limited? Times are a changing.

That 4 cylinder crap is just speculation. That won't happen for a long time.

Truly is sad that my brand new truck is no longer "brand new".

WOW, the article is expecting a redesign in 2015-2016. And it may be smaller and lighter than ours. I guess Ford is listening.

I just read a review of the 4 cylinder EcoBoost in the new Explorer. Needless to say, it got absolutely killed. Apparently it isn't living up to the expectation set forth in the F-150. It isn't going in the F-150 anytime soon.

I hope you're right. But it seems that Automakers are getting desprate and running out of options as the goverment keeps pushing for tougher fuel econmy standerds. I know its been talked about that Ford and Toyota are working together on devolping a hybrid set up together. I guess there is always the possiblity of a diesel engine making its way into the F-150...But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm glad I got my 2011...It may very well be the last of the true fullsize 1/2 ton trucks...At least until technology permits us to build larger trucks that are capable of getting 40mpg. I know that if things go the way I predict ''fear'' they will...I will keep my 2011 Forever.

I think it will be at least another 2 or 3 model years before we see any significant changes.

Yes, the artlcle says the next updated model will be around 2015. Until then it should be the same as the current model with small updates each year. Like I said earlier, this may be the last of the full size 1/2 ton pick up trucks. I may keep mine forever too.

The editors of Motor Trend absolutely blasted it. They said not only did it lack power but it got like 1 mpg better and it was an additional cost. If it's struggling with the smaller Explorer, it's gonna be a long time before it sees the F-150, if ever. I can't believe Ford could knock it out of the park with the F-150, then totally blow it on the Explorer.

The Explorer weighs somewhere between 4500-5000 lbs and why Ford is fiddling with a 2.0L engine for this behemoth just baffles me. The base engine is the 3.5L TiVCT engine and the 2.0 EB is the option.

I wouldn't say they knocked out of the park. My son has 02 24 valve cummins and gets 22 mpg and can tow a house.

I agree. I don't really understand how Ford expects to sell any of these Explorer's with the 2.0L Ecoboost. The 2.0L is more expensive, less powerful, and it looks like only about equal to the 3.7L in efficiency, which from my understanding the 2.0L Ecoboost was supposed to provide the same performance with better efficiency over the 3.7L V6. But 1mpg better is not acceptable for a higher price tag and less performance.

I personally believe that Ford is taking this whole ''downsizing engines'' thing a little to far. I mean I feel that there is really only so much you can do to make an engine as small as 2.0 liters perform well and still be a practical daily driver engine. Why does Ford not just de-tune a version of the 3.5L Ecoboost and make that the ''set up'' engine in the Explorer, Say 320hp and 350lb/ft of torque? That would more than enough to move the Explorer along pretty quickly.

But back on topic, If this 2.0L is struggling to push an Explorer around then it stands no chance at moving the F-150 quickly of efficiently. Even if Ford does downsize the F-150 a little bit, it’s likely to still be heavier and larger than the Explorer.

Ford rates the 2.0L in the Explorer at 28 mpg's highway and the 3.5L at 25 mpg's highway. A 10% better increase doesn't get my nod. In this case, I'm sticking with the 3.5L.
