Truly is sad that my brand new truck is no longer "brand new".

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm glad I got my 2011...It may very well be the last of the true fullsize 1/2 ton trucks...At least until technology permits us to build larger trucks that are capable of getting 40mpg. I know that if things go the way I predict ''fear'' they will...I will keep my 2011 Forever.

I hope you're right. But it seems that Automakers are getting desprate and running out of options as the goverment keeps pushing for tougher fuel econmy standerds. I know its been talked about that Ford and Toyota are working together on devolping a hybrid set up together. I guess there is always the possiblity of a diesel engine making its way into the F-150...But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yes, the artlcle says the next updated model will be around 2015. Until then it should be the same as the current model with small updates each year. Like I said earlier, this may be the last of the full size 1/2 ton pick up trucks. I may keep mine forever too.

I personally believe that Ford is taking this whole ''downsizing engines'' thing a little to far. I mean I feel that there is really only so much you can do to make an engine as small as 2.0 liters perform well and still be a practical daily driver engine. Why does Ford not just de-tune a version of the 3.5L Ecoboost and make that the ''set up'' engine in the Explorer, Say 320hp and 350lb/ft of torque? That would more than enough to move the Explorer along pretty quickly.
But back on topic, If this 2.0L is struggling to push an Explorer around then it stands no chance at moving the F-150 quickly of efficiently. Even if Ford does downsize the F-150 a little bit, it’s likely to still be heavier and larger than the Explorer.
