7.3 Chug Cold, Tick Warm issue
Morning gentleman, I'm a noob here, so please forgive any mistakes.
I'll get right to the point, I'm helping a friend sell a decent F-250, but it has a problem.
Mileage is 218K, Stick Shift, 2wd
Here's the issue. History, it was completely overhauled for some reason at the dealer about 70K or so ago. Under warranty, not sure the details of that.
Probably not related, but last year, had oil changed (Went from amsoil to conventional), directly after oil change, heard a sound, like a "puff" sound or something, like something let go, hose or something.
Since then it he parked it, and here is what it does, constantly, problem is NOT intermittent.
The Problem:
Start cold, it has a lot of smoke, puffs, like it's one cylinder or something, but smokes pretty good. Have to let it run for like 15-20min or MORE before it clears up, after that, no smoke at all. Sometimes I let it run for 10-15, and start driving it, it clears up.
Has noticeable tick, sounds a lot lick a lifter (not saying that's what it is, just describing the sound), it's all the time, and warm, not exhaust leak. Very consistent.
Idles very rough cold, and a little rough warm. The tick you can hear on both accel and decel.
I think that's it, shoot me for any more questions.
He said all this happened at the same puff, smoke, tick.
I'm a former ASE tech, and occasionally tinker around, but my knowledge on Diesel is limited. We have to get this fixed before sold, may take it somewhere, but was hoping through the power of the internet and you smart folks, we may be able to figure it out ourselves.
Thanks for your time.
Cliffs: Truck smokes cold, clears up warm, then has noticeable tick, rough idle, misses a bit.

with motor running, open hood and remove the oil fill cap, then lay it upside down on the fill neck to see if theres pressure behind it, popping it off
FWIW, i got that same ticking sound...?
Also, cold side tube at spider, looks to be a boost leak of some
And, from video, go get more fuel..
