6f35 transmission help

Hello,
My wife has a Ford Escape with a 6 speed auto (6f35) trans that is giving us problems. I am looking for a diagram of the transmission or just of the solenoid and linkage side. The reason is we took it into the Ford dealer to have it looked at because it would jump out of gear sometimes while driving. They said it was a solenoid but they would have to replace all of the solenoids at the same time. I understand that but now they say it will not go into gear as it should and I have to replace the transmission. It is just out of warranty so the cost will be $4200. It drove when I took it into their shop but now will not so I cant help but think it is something small and I want to work on it myself.

Sorry for the long story but if anyone has access to the diagram I would appreciate it.

Thanks, James

I don't have access, but you can get most transmission manuals from:

ATSG Home Page

Every manual I've gotten from them has been a duplicate of the factory manual.

I think I would be having a pleasant discussion with the service manager. They seem to have successfully broken your transmission while they were attempting repair. If you drove it in, it must have worked, no? If it doesn't drive now, they did *something*.
If nothing else, ask to speak to the zone rep and explain the situation. You could also check with independent repair shops. If you poke around, you might find out about the class action suit for owners of your transmission. I know nothing about it except that I read that it exists.
I would NOT be spending money at the place where your truck is at this time. I read the solenoids can be replaced after removing the valve body, but that should not require a new transmission. If you went out of gear, you likely lost pressure. There is an 'epc' solenoid that modulates the apply pressure in the transmission. If it went, I guess it could make the pressure so low that everything slipped and you went no where.
Did the fluid smell burned and have a very dark color? You may have had slippage for some time before it became obnoxious ... causing unknown damage to the frictions and steels.
