Removing camshaft with crankshaft installed?

460 - D1VE block

Can I remove the camshaft and lifters without removing the crankshaft?

Any precautions to take when doing this?

My engine bay is stripped down to the short block and I want to change the cam. Crank and pistons are still installed.

Thanks.

Be careful you don't gouge a bearing with a lobe when it first moves forward and drops out of the journals.
